It is incredibly important to clean your makeup brushes. Bacteria can build up on unclean makeup brushes and that can affect your skin and sometimes cause breakouts. I try to clean my brushes once a week, especially if I wore makeup every day. I have found a couple of products that are great to clean your brushes with. There is no need to buy fancy brush shampoo/unless you just absolutely want to.

Dawn Dish Soap

This one might sound weird, but dish soap does a really good job of getting the germs off the brushes and breaks up the oil in the makeup leaving the brushes clean-looking. This is also great to clean beauty blenders with, it is one of the few things that keeps it looking new.

Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap

This has a very similar effect as the dish soap. I like the smell of this one better and as the label on the product suggests, you can use it multiple ways. This can be used to clean your makeup brushes  or basically anything else, it can be used as face-wash, it says it can even be used as toothpaste. You can get this at basically any drugstore and it is such a good value because you can use it for some many things.
