Arizona Travel Guide | Part 1

When you think of popular travel destinations, Arizona doesn’t always come up. I think that should change though. I recently went to Arizona and I truly enjoyed my trip! It is so much more than just a desert and I think there are activities for everyone!

This post will cover Phoenix and the surrounding areas along with many of the photos I took. Part 2 will cover Northern Arizona or the “high country”. Unfortunately, I can’t really recommend many Airbnbs or hotels because I stayed with my family.

Hiking is really big in Arizona. There is Camelback Mountain which is near Phoenix and Scottsdale. The Superstition Mountains have many trails and there is a lot of history behind that mountain range. There is also Brown Mountain in Mesa, which is a very beginner friendly hike. The views are amazing and it’s a great way to get exercise.

Camelback Mountain

This hike is more challenging, but it has a clearly marked trail and beautiful scenery.

Brown Mountain

This is an easy hike and it’s located in Mesa, AZ.

Superstition Mountains and Canyon Lake

There are many trails in this area (located east of Phoenix). Also, there are many museums and old trading posts sharing the history of the Lost Dutchman and his hidden treasure.

There is also shopping and eating of course. I recommend eating out in Scottsdale, especially if you are plant-based. Phoenix is not the best city for foodies, which is why I would recommend Scottsdale. When I was there I ate at a place called, The Grapevine.

Old Town Scottsdale also has unique stores and galleries based around Southwest culture.

I was also able to find vegan friendly gelato at Gelato Cimmino.

Thanks for reading! I hope this was a decent travel guide. The next part will cover the Grand Canyon and surrounding areas. If you’ve been to Arizona, let me know in the comments your favorite areas!
