    You Just Went Vegan…What’s Next?

Welcome to my second coffee chats post, featuring my medium roast coffee with soy milk. I’ve been blogging for quite some time now and I just realized that I have never talked about my vegan journey or given advice to new vegans. I have talked about budgets, benefits and I have many recipes; but I think it’s time to give some unsolicited advice based on my experiences. Spark notes version of my journey… At about 16 years old, I made the decision to be vegetarian. But I wasn’t a strict vegetarian, so I had been vegetarian on and off until I was 20 years old. Around two years ago in January,…

    Food Photography in September

It’s that time again! Welcome to the September edition of my monthly vegan food porn series. I’m starting to get the hang of this food photography thing. Definitely far from a professional level, but you have to start somewhere. I’ve been more consistent with my props and backgrounds and I feel like this has improved my results. I also do minimal edits.  I adjust the color in certain areas and then I slightly adjust the saturation and contrast. Then, I apply a filter that isn’t too dramatic. Some of the more simplistic photos, I took on my phone and it’s just me holding the bowl/plate. I like to have a…

    Ethereal // iPhone Photography

ETHEREAL ~ of or relating to the regions beyond earth. Celestial, heavenly, unworldly, and spiritual. I’ve been really inspired by this concept and it has manifested in my photography. I mostly share the photos I have taken with my camera, but I like how some of my recent iPhone photos turned out and they (in my mind) fit the ethereal aesthetic. A little bit ago, I wrote a post about taking quality photos with a smart phone. Well…I somehow accidentally deleted that and it’s not even in my trash folder. So think of this as round 2. Please enjoy my photos and tips! The best camera you can have is…

    Minimal Hair Care Routine

It’s been a long while since I have talked about anything beauty related. My beauty routines have minimized because I barely use products anymore. Partly because of my intentional lifestyle and partly because I am really low maintenance (AKA lazy). Surprisingly, I have received compliments on my hair lately. I have taken a minimal approach recently when it comes to my hair and I just wanted to share an updated hair care routine/products. Basically the routine part is just shampooing every few days. Last year, I was having a lot of scalp irritation and hair breakage. When this happened, I had to cut back on most products. That’s why I…

    AUTOPILOT

When you just can’t deal… I gave up my control. I’ve let life just happen. I’ve sat back and allowed co-pilots to steer me. This sounds great, right? Just sitting back and relaxing. Let me tell you, it hasn’t been great. For the past few weeks, I have done the minimum. I go to school, I go to work, I sleep, I eat, and I repeat this process every day. I’m doing the minimum, but I still feel like there’s not enough time in the day. There was a time when I wanted to do everything. And I basically did ‘do everything’. I over programmed myself. I became so involved…

    22 Things in 22 Years

I am officially 22 years young! Yes, I am that annoying person that announces their birthday. It might be the day after my birthday when I post this. Anyway, I have seen a lot of posts about “things I have learned in…” insert number of years.  Adulting is one giant teachable moment. Most of my learning experiences have come from the past few years. Without further ado, here are 22 things I’ve learned in 22 years. It’s not the end of the world. It might seem like a big deal, but it’s probably not. Life goes on and you will overcome it. Follow your passions. Life is too short and you shouldn’t…

Just Another Post About Zero Waste

Millennials are obsessed with going zero waste. It’s definitely not a bad thing. It’s actually a great thing. I’ve noticed that a zero waste lifestyle has become a source of competition though. If you’ve been following my blog, then you know I am passionate about the environment and veganism. But I also strive for balance.  I don’t want a lifestyle to turn into an obsession. You don’t have to be over-the-top with zero waste (unless you want to). This is why I am going to share some zero waste/sustainability tips that won’t stress you out. Take Re-usable Bags to the Grocery Store…This is probably the easiest thing you can do.…

    Update // Goals

Like most people, I set intentions for 2018 following the New Year. I have had some comments asking me to do an update, so here you go! If you are a new reader or haven’t seen my goals post ~ HERE IT IS. I didn’t set time restrictions for my goals because I thought that it would be too stressful. However, I should have put a loose time frame so that I would stay somewhat motivated. Anyway, the first goal I had-was to stop comparing myself to others. I haven’t completely mastered this, but I have improved greatly. Something that has helped me is to delete certain accounts on social…

    Vegan on a Budget

I constantly hear people say that they don’t have enough money to eat healthier. They “can’t afford to be vegan”.  It’s actually a myth that healthy food is more expensive than junk food (unless you live in a food desert, which is a completely different issue). In the long run, whole plant foods are more affordable and way better for your health and the environment. It doesn’t have to be hard or expensive to eat plant-based. With the tips I provide you and a little planning, you will realize how easy it can be to adopt this lifestyle. Buy in season. If you prefer fresh produce (who doesn’t), buy fruits and…

    Misconceptions About College

Raise your hand if you are scared of going away to college. This time in your life can be extremely stressful. You are expected to pick a career path at the young age of 18 and then people tell you to decide where you are going to spend the next 4+ years. It’s a lot to process. I was so worried about college. People put all of these ideas into my head and it freaked me out. I thought that my classes would be unbearable and I had no idea how I was going to make friends. I started college 3 years ago and it has been quite a journey.…
