    Food Photography in September

It’s that time again! Welcome to the September edition of my monthly vegan food porn series. I’m starting to get the hang of this food photography thing. Definitely far from a professional level, but you have to start somewhere. I’ve been more consistent with my props and backgrounds and I feel like this has improved my results. I also do minimal edits.  I adjust the color in certain areas and then I slightly adjust the saturation and contrast. Then, I apply a filter that isn’t too dramatic. Some of the more simplistic photos, I took on my phone and it’s just me holding the bowl/plate. I like to have a…

Veganism is a Privilege & Other Thoughts

It’s time to ruffle some feathers! I am going to talk about the “p” word, so if you are triggered by topics about privilege, then this is your warning. Before I dive into what I want to talk about, I just need to give a little disclaimer. I am vegan and I love this lifestyle and I am not bashing or gossiping about anyone specifically. Moving on… When I was a new vegan, I would get really annoyed when people said that it was too hard and too expensive and all those other excuses. I used to think that any person regardless of economic status could adopt a vegan lifestyle.…

    Chocolate Raspberry Oatmeal

When you think of Valentine’s Day, you don’t necessarily think of oatmeal. Hear me out though. This is probably the best oatmeal recipe I have created. It is chocolaty and sweet. The colors of this recipe represent love, in my opinion. I think if you’re vegan, then you would enjoy this for breakfast on Valentine’s Day. Maybe even drop a “subtle” hint to your significant other. This recipe takes less than 15 minutes to make and the ingredients are fairly simple. Printer Friendly Version Here WHAT YOU WILL NEED… ½ cup rolled or quick cook oats. 1 cup of cashew/almond milk.  ¼- ½ zucchini (optional). 1 cup + of frozen…

    Colorful Winter Chili (Vegan)

In the warmer months, my diet is made up of tons of fruit. However, now that it is absolutely freezing; I crave warm foods like pasta, chili, and baked potatoes. This recipe is packed with protein and with spices that promote immune functioning. Prep time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 30 minutes (at the least) | Servings: 4-6 INGREDIENTS… 1 cup of black beans. 1 cup of garbanzo beans. 1/2 cup of corn. 1 cup of lima…

    Banana Pecan Granola

I love granola, but I don’t always love random ingredients in store-bought granola. With more and more people starting a vegan lifestyle or eating more plant-based, I thought I would share a beginner vegan recipe that is also very delicious. Vegan Christmas Dinner

Eat, drink, and be merry! I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season. My Christmas was filled with Christmas movies, vegan food, and laughter (from my family making fun of me). I’ve been very lucky because my family spoils me with vegan food. We didn’t have traditional holiday food this year, we just made our favorite dishes/appetizers. I know this post is a little late, but I wanted to share the recipes. I started out by making Potato Pancakes (Latkes). I was inspired by a recipe I found on Yummly, the recipe app. Here is the original recipe: vegnews Ingredients you will need: 3-4 russet potatoes (peeled and shredded). 1/2…
