    Should You Take Supplements?

A somewhat controversial question, especially in the wellness community. With a well-rounded plant-based diet, you don’t need any supplementation. Every vegan has heard this and most of us have probably said it. But let’s be honest, who eats a clean whole foods plant-based diet 100% of the time? Not me, I like my vegan junk food. Supplementation isn’t even a vegan problem. Omnivores, herbivores, and “clean-eaters” can all be susceptible to nutrient deficiencies. Here is a CDC report on nutrient deficiencies. I’ve talked about this a little in the past, but I wanted to do a separate post about vitamins/supplements. I used to never rely on supplements. I only relied…

My Favorite Cruelty-Free and Organic Products

This isn’t something I typically would post because I loathe shopping. But I haven’t posted about cruelty-free products in a while and I get questions so…here I am, writing about the products I use. I consider myself an ethical vegan, which means that I buy cruelty-free lifestyle and beauty products. If I can afford an organic option then I will also purchase that. It can get expensive, but buying online definitely helps. I also avoid buying makeup, so I save money there. All of these products I am going to share are affordable and add value to my life. Minimal Hair Care Routine

It’s been a long while since I have talked about anything beauty related. My beauty routines have minimized because I barely use products anymore. Partly because of my intentional lifestyle and partly because I am really low maintenance (AKA lazy). Surprisingly, I have received compliments on my hair lately. I have taken a minimal approach recently when it comes to my hair and I just wanted to share an updated hair care routine/products. Basically the routine part is just shampooing every few days. Last year, I was having a lot of scalp irritation and hair breakage. When this happened, I had to cut back on most products. That’s why I…

    A Vegan in Kansas

I basically live in the middle of nowhere. I am not exaggerating. I could drive 10 minutes and end up in a field. I don’t consider veganism “hard” or “unrealistic”. However, it can be a challenge sometimes when you live in Kansas (or any Midwestern state). I see a lot of “eat beef” license plates and finding options at restaurants can be difficult. This post is based on my experiences and I hope it gives you some useful tips, especially if you live in a not so vegan friendly area. Basic diary free oatmeal with fruit on top Asking for substitutions is super important. Just set aside your anxiety and…

    Goodwill Haul | Round 2

In my opinion, a vegan lifestyle partly involves reducing waste. I have never enjoyed shopping and I typically prefer going to thrift shops before going to a mall. There is so much waste and consumption that goes into producing new clothing. Also, let’s not forget that factory workers spend 8+ hours a day in poor conditions producing clothes. I believe that it is super important to go to thrift stores, second hand stores, or even just swapping clothes with friends. This trip to Goodwill, I bought a patterned blouse, a pair of cropped jeans, and some dishes. I also like to get dishes at thrift shops because it makes my…

    Current Nutrition Favorites

I’ve always prioritized my health. Lately, I have valued healthy living even more. I want to share some of my nutrition favorites. Keep in mind that I am vegan and my dietary needs might be different than yours. Do what you think is best based on your diet/lifestyle. Zinc Because I eat only plant foods, it is sometimes harder to obtain metals such as Zinc. I started taking zinc because I was experiencing breakouts on the face even though there were no changes in my skincare routine or nutrition. If you are suffering from non-hormonal breakouts on the face; it could be an indication of low Zinc, Vitamin A, or…

My hair feels really clean after I use it and it nourishes my waves. Shea Moisture Problem Skin Facial Wash & Scrub I’ve used many Shea Moisture products. iHerb Review

I’m all about natural products. I’ve heard a lot about iHerb and I was always wanting to try it. I recently ran out of some beauty products and vitamins so I decided to finally browse iHerb. At first, I was a little overwhelmed by the website. There are so many products to choose from! The great thing is their website separates everything into categories and has a search option. It was incredibly easy to navigate through all of the supplements and beauty products. I was pleased with their selection of products, everything I looked at was natural and cruelty-free. Everything was also reasonably priced. Ordering was simple and I received…

    Goodwill Haul

Personally, I love going to thrift stores. It’s a great way to reuse and recycle clothes, books, and other possessions. I really don’t care if other people judge me for it, I will still go to thrift stores. Not too long ago, I went to my local Goodwill. I regularly donate items to Goodwill, but this time I went I  was a consumer. I was mostly trying to kill time–turns out I actually found some quality items. I got three books that I am looking forward to reading. “The Five People You Meet In Heaven”, “American Creation”, and “The House Gun”. I  also purchased a necklace and blouses for school. Additionally, I got a…

    Flower Beauty Brand Review

I admire Drew Barrymore so when I saw her makeup range at Wal-Mart (Flower Beauty), I freaked out. First off, let’s talk about the packaging! I love white and gold so I was immediately drawn to the products. There is a good range of items: lip glosses/lipsticks, tinted moisturizers and foundations, powders, and eye products. I was surprised by how large of a selection there was because usually celebrity brands only have a few products. I purchased the mattifying loose powder in Translucent and the eyebrow pencil in deep brown. I have read positive reviews about the loose powder so I decided to purchase it. I got the mattifying one…
