    So You Started a Blog…

Literally everyone and their mom is “building a brand”. Which is great, I love seeing people sharing their passions on social media. But scrolling through blogs and Instagram, I see some things that make me cringe. Not in a bad way, it just brings back memories from my early blogging days. We spend a lot of time putting out content, but we don’t spend time talking about meaningful content and how to go about that. … I am by no means an influencer. This is just my advice that’s based on my experiences with creating content. So you started a blog…what’s next and what should you do? Find your niche.…

    I Want to be Great

We all want to, right? We all want greatness and we all want to be successful. But what happens when you get too caught up in it? Perfectionism in combination with impatience can be debilitating at times. I am usually driven and this is partly because I strive for flawlessness. Not flawlessness in a beauty sense, but I hate mistakes and they easily upset me. On the other hand, focusing on goals and aspirations typically gives me more energy. I enjoy hard work and achieving goals I set. The pros, for the most part, outweigh the cons. What happens when they don’t? At times, it can seem like too much.…

    AUTOPILOT

When you just can’t deal… I gave up my control. I’ve let life just happen. I’ve sat back and allowed co-pilots to steer me. This sounds great, right? Just sitting back and relaxing. Let me tell you, it hasn’t been great. For the past few weeks, I have done the minimum. I go to school, I go to work, I sleep, I eat, and I repeat this process every day. I’m doing the minimum, but I still feel like there’s not enough time in the day. There was a time when I wanted to do everything. And I basically did ‘do everything’. I over programmed myself. I became so involved…

    Food Photography: March Compilation

You could say that one of my hobbies is food photography. I guess that makes me a hipster. Anyway, I am constantly learning about what makes a good “food photo”. On my blog–I typically share vegan, lifestyle, or nature related posts. But, I rarely share about the topic of food photography. I thought I would share recent food photos and some advice I’ve learned. For those of you that are interested, here are my food photos from last month: As you can see, there is still room for improvement. However, I have learned a good amount about the subject. Lighting is always important in photography, but even more so in…

Just Another Post About Zero Waste

Millennials are obsessed with going zero waste. It’s definitely not a bad thing. It’s actually a great thing. I’ve noticed that a zero waste lifestyle has become a source of competition though. If you’ve been following my blog, then you know I am passionate about the environment and veganism. But I also strive for balance.  I don’t want a lifestyle to turn into an obsession. You don’t have to be over-the-top with zero waste (unless you want to). This is why I am going to share some zero waste/sustainability tips that won’t stress you out. Take Re-usable Bags to the Grocery Store…This is probably the easiest thing you can do.…

    Update // Goals

Like most people, I set intentions for 2018 following the New Year. I have had some comments asking me to do an update, so here you go! If you are a new reader or haven’t seen my goals post ~ HERE IT IS. I didn’t set time restrictions for my goals because I thought that it would be too stressful. However, I should have put a loose time frame so that I would stay somewhat motivated. Anyway, the first goal I had-was to stop comparing myself to others. I haven’t completely mastered this, but I have improved greatly. Something that has helped me is to delete certain accounts on social…

    How About This Weather?

An all too common phrase in the Midwest. It’s true, if you want the weather to change, just wait five minutes. But do we have to use this as small talk? I’m not a fan of obligatory conversations. I never know how to respond and most of the time I’m just not in the mood to talk to strangers. However, I can’t help the fact that I am comforted by these monotonous phrases. If someone doesn’t start a conversation with a statement about the weather or doesn’t ask me how I am doing, something feels off. We’ve created these necessary phrases to begin the engagement process. As much as we…

    Chocolate Raspberry Oatmeal

When you think of Valentine’s Day, you don’t necessarily think of oatmeal. Hear me out though. This is probably the best oatmeal recipe I have created. It is chocolaty and sweet. The colors of this recipe represent love, in my opinion. I think if you’re vegan, then you would enjoy this for breakfast on Valentine’s Day. Maybe even drop a “subtle” hint to your significant other. This recipe takes less than 15 minutes to make and the ingredients are fairly simple. Printer Friendly Version Here WHAT YOU WILL NEED… ½ cup rolled or quick cook oats. 1 cup of cashew/almond milk.  ¼- ½ zucchini (optional). 1 cup + of frozen…

    Misconceptions About College

Raise your hand if you are scared of going away to college. This time in your life can be extremely stressful. You are expected to pick a career path at the young age of 18 and then people tell you to decide where you are going to spend the next 4+ years. It’s a lot to process. I was so worried about college. People put all of these ideas into my head and it freaked me out. I thought that my classes would be unbearable and I had no idea how I was going to make friends. I started college 3 years ago and it has been quite a journey.…

Healing Hair and Skin With a Vegan Lifestyle

People come to the vegan lifestyle for many different reasons. I came to this lifestyle for ethical reasons. However, I cannot deny the healing benefits of a plant-based diet. Adopting a vegan lifestyle can aid in the prevention of various diseases, including cancer. I am not saying that it is a “cure-all”. To put it frankly, if you eat crap, you are going to feel like crap. Here is an article about meat consumption and risk of cancer. Anyway, I have noticed that a lot of people are interested in eating more whole plant foods because of the skin and hair care benefits. I can say from personal experience, that a…
