Typical Grocery List // Vegan

One of my readers suggested I share a typical grocery list. I thought it was such a great idea because I often get asked about the foods I buy. When I first started eating plant-based, making trips to the grocery store was so stressful. I was kind of all over the place and would just buy random items. It’s taken some time, but I now have a pretty basic grocery list I follow.

If you don’t know what to buy, it helps to separate your list into sections. For example, I sometimes separate my list into: protein, grains, fruits, vegetables, and miscellaneous. Also, it helps to research recipes or nutrition information before hand. Here is a standard grocery list for me:

  • Protein
    • Black beans
    • Fat free re-fried beans or garbanzo beans
    • Extra firm tofu
  • Grains
    • Rolled oats
    • Corn tortillas
    • Bread
    • Brown rice or jasmine rice
    • Whole wheat pasta
  • Fruits
    • Bananas (at least 6)
    • 1 package of frozen raspberries or mixed berries
    • 1 bag of apples
    • 3 avocados
  • Veggies
    • 1 bag of spinach
    • 1 package of carrots
    • 1 zucchini
    • 1 package of frozen broccoli
    • 1 bag of sweet potatoes
  • Miscellaneous
    • Flax seed
    • Spices or seasonings
    • Maple syrup or agave
    • Sauces

I don’t buy these things every week. A lot of the miscellaneous items last at least a month. Also, grains and dried beans last longer than a week. This list is fairly standard and you can make many plant-based recipes with these items. I hope this post helps! Thanks for reading!
